🌈Sister Act At The Dominion Theatre🌈

Hi, welcome back to my blog!

After the fam trip to Belgium my next trip was to see Sister Act at the Dominion Theatre on 20th March 2024.

The cast included Beverley Knight, Ruth Jones, Lesley Joseph, Clive Rowe and Lizzie Bea.

I've always loved Clive, brought back memories of watching Tracey Beaker as a kid!

I have to admit, I didn't look at the cast before I booked and I was really impressed with the cast.

The hilarious 1992 film or one of the multiple-stage productions that have taken Deloris and her sisters worldwide but let’s recap just in case.

Sister Act The Musical, now set in the present day, follows disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, whose world takes a drastic turn when she is witness to a murder. Taken into witness protection and disguised as a nun, they’re sure no one will find this songster at a convent… or at least they hope so! Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris makes an unexpected bond with her sisters through music.

Whilst she helps them find their voices, she rediscovers her own. Sister Act is as hilarious as it is heart-warming; a fabulous tribute to the beauty of friendship, sisterhood and music.

I have watched the film a few times so I was interested to see how they would portray it on the stage.

It was an early morning, left at 7am. Headed to London, arrived around an hour before the show. We didn't stop at the services on this trip so had more time when we arrived!

Thottenham court road has a Primark and Mcdonalds around the corner so we enjoyed shopping and then got some lunch. Ideally I wouldn't have chosen McDonalds as I am trying to make better choices but London was crowded and the restaurants had people lining up outside, we didn't want to miss the show so fast food it was!

I find London such a funny place, everyone is always in a rush. The Pollution there is really bad too and I find it really difficult to breathe with my asthma. I love London for it's tourist attractions and I have really enjoyed going to the theatres but it is definitely a place I would never want to live.

After lunch we headed to the theatre, I went to The King and I in Feb which was also at the Dominion theatre so I felt like I knew a where to go. - I am terrible at geography and cannot locate myself anywhere so this was an achievement for me.

I had to buy the program - A must for the scrapbook!

We took our seats, we were in the raised seating. I always find being up higher gives a better view - Many people will disagree with me no doubt. I managed to get some amazing videos and photos of the show. A lot of the theatre shows that we do have seats in the stalls, personally I like the raised seating but they're all great seats!

The show was amazing. They portrayed the story perfectly, Beverley knight's singing was amazing, I have never heard her live. Even Ruth Jones can sing! Even Nessa can sing!! I was so impressed. Ruth Jones made a lot of jokes too which made the show even better! She made a few Gavin and Stacey jokes too, she was great at keeping the audience entertained! I think if Ruth hadn't have been in the show it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good.

The costumes were something else. The colours and details, I dread to think how long it took to make them! The glitter too, The costumes looked amazing under the spotlight!

When I went to see The King and I it was my first time experiencing the west end and what I was missing!

I have to say if I didn't work for the company I do now and have the chance to go to these amazing shows I probably wouldn't have which is another reason why I am so excited about sharing it with you all, I really recommend it!!

This trip I did pay for - Discounted of course. I am hooked on theatre shows now!

To start with I was anti coach travel but it just makes life SO much easier!

I am a worrier so if I had gone by train and tubes I would be worrying how to get back and it was dark when we left. By going on the coach they dropped us outside, we went for lunch then to the theatre and straight back onto the coach and coming home! It is a long day but I would rather it be stress free! I enjoyed the show so much because I knew the coach would be waiting outside when it finished, the coach was full and did all have a laugh.

There are so many other shows on throughout the year and I can't wait to blog about them!

Everyone needs to go to the West End at least once in their lifetime! It is breath taking.

I think it is amazing how they set the stage up and the acting, singing and orchestra is just phenomenal.

It's one of those where you get goosebumps!

After the show we boarded the coach for the journey home, it wasn't too bad I slept over half of the way home and then watched some 'Outnumbered' on Netflix. I struggle to find series I like so if anyone has any recommendations feel free to let me know!

Look out for my next blog post,
