🎤😂Michael McIntyre: MACNIFICENT at Utilita Arena, Birmingham😂🎤

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to my blog!

I’ve been feeling a bit poorly this week, which has given me more time to write.

As promised, I’m sharing my trips from this year. Let’s start with today’s post about when I went to see Michael McIntyre at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham with a few friends.

The Utilita Arena opened in 1991 and can hold around 15,800 people!

While I usually prefer shows in London, this one came up on a weekend, I couldn’t resist. a free trip without having to use my holiday? Yes Please!

I invited some friends to join me, we set off around 3pm.

There was me, my friend Emily and her partner Flynn, as well as my friend Amy and her mum. The journey to Birmingham was a bit long, but surprisingly not as bad as I’d expected. We stopped at a service station for food of course we had to get a KFC, Emily and Flynn chose a Mcdonalds and it was probably the best food I'd ever tasted..

It definitely wasn't but I was STARVING. I made the mistake of missing lunch - Rookie error! We stopped around 30 mins from the arena at the Starbucks for some drinks before continuing on to the arena.

The arena is located near the Birmingham Canal Old Line, so we had some time to stroll along the canal before the show. There were so many food restaurants in and around the arena but since we’d already eaten, we just enjoyed the walk and snapped a few photos. - There was a Giant Giraffe outside too!

I did spot a drinks stall inside the arena, but it was pricey! I went for a double cherry gin and lemonade, which cost me £13! - needless to say, that was my only alcoholic drink for the night!

After a quick bag check, we made our way to our seats. We were pretty high up, and the steps were so steep that even though i'm not typically afraid of heights, felt a little sick! Once settled, it was amazing to watch the arena fill up. It was packed!

Although I’m not usually a huge fan of Michael McIntyre, I really enjoyed the show. He had everyone in stitches with his personal jokes about friends and family, I thought this was a nice touch. His humour was infectious. I found myself laughing along more than I expected!

As with most comedy shows, there wasn’t a real storyline but a lot of his jokes were around covid and times in his life - It was nice to learn a bit about him too. I left the arena feeling like I knew him a little which was really nice.

All in all, it was a nice evening. It was so nice to spend time with my friends. As we get older, it’s easy to forget how important it is to make time for each other. The journey back was mostly filled with laughter and music (and a bit of much-needed sleep after the show).

I did feel a bit disappointed that I couldn’t find a program—I love collecting them incase I ever get time to make a scrapbook! But all in all, a fantastic night out.

A bit of a shorter blog this time!

I look forward to sharing my next blog soon!
