Hey! Welcome back to my blog!
If youāve been following my blog for a while, youāll know that my work takes me on a variety of trips. From theatre trips to short getaways abroad, Iāve experienced a little bit of everything. I believe the best way to sell something is by truly understanding it, so what better way to document my adventures than right here on my blog! Today, Iām writing about my visit to London Zoo!
It had been years since I last visited a zoo, Iād never been to London Zoo so I was super excited! Penguins have always been my favorite animal, Iāve loved them since I was a kid! The zoo was huge and although it was packed with visitors because of the school holidays, it didnāt stop us from getting up close to all the animals.

The zoo has a mobile app, which I found super handy. The app works like Google Maps, helping you navigate around and find the different animals. Thereās also a āPlan Your Dayā feature, where you can organize the order in which youād like to visit the animals. I think it is really clever! You can even set reminders for animal talks, which is great since the zoo is so large and it gives you time to get to each spot.
There are 6 main places to get food on site.
- The Terrace Resturant - This is probably the most popular as it is big
- Zoo Treats
- Amreli Street Food
- Penguin Beach Cafe
- Peckish Parrot
- Woodland Kiosk
I didnāt try any of the restaurants myself since I went during the school holidays, it was total chaos. Iām hoping to check them out on my next visit.
London Zoo is home to over 10,000 animals, from tiny ants to a 193kg gorilla! There are too many species to list here, you can explore them all on their website.
During my visit, there was an event called āPoo at the Zoo.ā It was a fascinating exhibition on over the summer that focused on how animal droppings can reveal insights into their diets, habitats, and health. The display included over 100 preserved specimens, showcasing poo from a wide range of animals, such as an endangered gorilla, a giant Galapagos tortoise, and even a tiny caterpillar dropping! I took a quick stroll through the exhibit and I thought it was really well done. The kids definitely found it hilarious, while the adults found it surprisingly informative. It was definitely worth checking outāIād never seen elephant poo before either!
London Zoo has a wide variety of habitats to explore, which you can check out here: https://www.londonzoo.org/whats-here/habitats
During my visit, I definitely loved the Butterfly Paradise and Rainforest Life the most. The butterflies were absolutely stunning, it was such a cool experience walking through with them flying and landing all around you. I especially liked how you could get so close to them, they're so photogenic! šø
The Rainforest was amazing too, especially because of the adorable little monkeys! They were tiny but so energetic. Iād forgotten a banana and left it hanging out the side of my bag, the monkeys spotted it right away. Luckily, the staff noticed and asked me to put it away as one of the little monkeys was about to hop onto my back! It was such a fun experience. We got some awesome up close photos!
There are also daily talks about the animals, which I think is great, especially since many schools take their students on zoo trips. It's definitely a fun day out, thereās so much to learn too!
As part of my job, I organise school trips, ranging from international tours to local UK excursions. I always think the zoo is a fantastic choiceāwho wouldnāt want to learn about animals from all over the world?
Overall, I had a really good time. We had the nicest weather too! My phone died halfway through and then I lost my camera charger, so I had to order a replacement to get my photos the next day.. all I'm saying is thank goodness for Amazonās next-day delivery!
The best moment of the day was when we first arrived and saw a gorilla give birth. It was my friends choice. We were so lucky to catch the cutest baby gorilla being born!
Thanks for reading!
I look forward to sharing more trips with you soon!
