🎶Mrs Doubtfire at the Shaftesbury Theatre🎶

Mrs Doubtfire at the Shaftesbury Theatre - 9th May 2024

Hi! Welcome back to my blog.

Today's blog is about the trip I went to in May to the Shaftesbury Theatre to see Mrs Doubtfire the musical..

So this one was a surprise really, I wanted to go with my work but it was fully booked for ages, I was the first on the waiting list and the day before the trip someone cancelled! - This one was booked really quickly, I knew it would be popular so made sure we got a second date!

We do have another trip to see this in October but I wanted to go on this one, luckily my friend Zoe could get the day off work so we went together!

I hadn't been to the Shaftesbury before and as I haven't really been to central London much so I wasn't really sure what area the theatre was in.

We boarded the coach and after a stop at the services for a toilet and drink stop we got into London at around 1pm, this left an hour or so before the show.

I didn't realise it was near China Town so as soon as we got off the coach we checked google maps and located the theatre, then headed off into China Town to find some lunch!

I am not a massive fan of Chinese food and none of the restaurants or stalls really grabbed my eye - We didn't have too long before the show either so we headed to a local Mcdonald's. I enjoyed my Fish finger happy meal - Don't judge me the Fish fingers at Mcdonalds are amazing!!

We then headed back in the direction of the theatre and found M&M world!! I have visited once when I was in London a few years ago so was nice to go back in and see how things had changed. There were lots of nice gifts but of course they were London prices and as the trip wasn't planned I didn't take a lot of money with me. We didn't buy anything just had a good look around, had a selfie taken with the walking M&M and then headed back to the theatre for the show!

We were in the raised seating - it was similar layout to the Dominion but was bigger. I find the theatres in London breathtaking. I can never get my head around the amazing interiors. I headed straight upstairs to the merch shop and bought a program - It is a must!

We took our seats and it was crammed, I can see why it sells for us, the theatre was full! The show was really good and the actors who played each part did an amazing job!

We managed to get some good photos and videos, this one didn't have as much singing and dancing as Sister Act which was quite nice really. Some of the time it felt like we were watching the film! - It was a musical but I think it had the right amount of singing in it, if there was anymore it would have definitely ruined the show.

The props and the backgrounds etc were amazing, how they swapped from room to room. Sometimes you felt like you were actually in their living room it was so realistic! The costumes again like Sister Act were amazing, especially Mrs Doubtfire - I can imagine it is difficult to get that right! The show overall was great and I really enjoyed the day out.

We headed back to the coach after the show for the drive home. It seemed a long journey for some reason but I was reading my E books and planning my weeks workouts so it wasn't all that bad. I think having a friend really helps with the travelling part as company and someone to talk to.

We could have driven but I think the stress of parking and leaving our cars unattended in London would just worry us all day and the tubes just stress me out so much I would have ended up in Scotland or something - lol

I would definitely recommend Mrs Doubtfire the musical as though it wasn't all singing the actors done an amazing job at telling the story, the whole show and staff at the Shaftesbury were lovely too!

Keep an eye out for my next blog.
