I started keeping diaries when I was around five or six—you know, the classic lock-and-key kind that, ironically, everyone with the same diary could open because the keys were identical. Yes, those ones.
I didn’t have the easiest childhood, so escaping into my imagination was a lifeline—kind of like Tracey Beaker, if you remember her. I dreamed of a big house, a fancy car, lots of kids, and parties. Growing up with my dad as a single parent meant money was tight at times. He could only work around school hours, so we made the most of what we had.
As I entered my teens, I discovered boxing, and it completely changed my life. It gave me a massive confidence boost. As some of you may know from my previous blogs, I’ve been boxing for just over six years. When I first started, there were hardly any girls in the gym—I think many believed they couldn’t do it. Slowly, though, I got to know more and more women in the sport, many of whom became good friends. Boxing has given me so many stories—from experiences with sexism to competing in national championships—but I never really had a platform to share just how incredible female boxing is.
I’d tell my friends about my experiences, and most of the time, they didn’t believe me. But word spread, and soon, people I didn’t even know were messaging me with questions. I was honestly amazed that anyone cared about one female boxer’s journey, and that’s when I decided to start sharing tips and advice on boxing and weight loss—and I absolutely loved it.
When I left school, I wasn’t planning on a career in boxing. I knew from the start that there wasn’t enough money in it for women to make it sustainable. I was determined to go as far as I could, but I also knew there wouldn’t be a long-term career at the end. My first job was in retail at a clothing store. I knew I was meant for something bigger, but university didn’t feel like the right path for me.
About three years later, I got the chance to enter the travel industry, and I’ve never looked back. Around that time, I decided to start a blog to share my personal experiences in life and travel. I have a huge bucket list, and I wanted a space to share it with others.
I never started this blog to show off or to think I’m somehow different from anyone else. Sure, some people have criticized or mocked my ideas—but that’s life. We learn our strengths and how to handle challenges. I’ve been so fortunate to have a community of lovely people who genuinely enjoy my stories and support my blog, and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
My best friend Amara was the first person to encourage me when I said I wanted to start a blog. She told me, “Chloe, you have enough stories to write a book.” That stuck with me, and it made me realize that she was right—I do have so many stories, and now I get to share them with all of you.
Thank you so much for your love and support—I can’t wait to share even more stories with you.
Take care,
Chloe
