❌🥛PCOS - One month gluten and diary free🥛❌

Updated: Nov 20, 2025

Gluten and dairy… at first, they sound easy enough to cut out. No milk, no cheese, right?

Wrong. Pretty much everything seems to have either gluten or dairy in it.

Being gluten- and dairy-free is tough. The “free from” sections in supermarkets are amazing, but usually they’re either gluten-free or dairy-free — rarely both. It’s taken me a while to adapt, and I’m still not completely there. I still slip up occasionally… and oh boy, do I pay for it.

Everyone reacts differently to gluten and dairy. Some people just get a bit of a bellyache, while others have severe reactions. I’m lucky that mine are more manageable — cramps, acid reflux, and bloating — but they’re still enough to make life tricky. I’ve been experimenting with lots of recipes: some are hits, others not so much.

It can be really depressing. I can’t just grab McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, or most restaurant meals without scanning the menu over and over. Until you go gluten- and dairy-free, you don’t realise how limited your options are and how few places truly cater for it.

And no — just because something is vegan doesn’t mean it’s gluten-free. Vegan just means no dairy; gluten could still be present. A few weeks ago, my family went to McDonald’s. I knew there wouldn’t be much I could eat. Dad asked the staff about gluten-free options, and they actually asked him what gluten even is! I ended up eating the vegan dippers, which were NOT gluten- or dairy-free, and it made me really ill. Situations like that show why we need more awareness.

I won’t lie — I miss bread, pasta, and milk the most. Sometimes chocolate too. Watching my family enjoy pasta or bread while I can’t can be tough, and it does make me feel a little left out.

On the bright side, I’ve recently discovered potato waffles that are both gluten- and dairy-free — and I LOVE them. I usually have them for breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. Over the past month, going gluten- and dairy-free has been hard, but I feel so much better for it now.

If I’ve managed to stick to this diet over Christmas, I can do it anytime! I’m not allergic; I’ve chosen this route, and it has completely solved my problems. I’ve always believed in never giving up, and I’ll keep experimenting until I have a wide range of recipes I love and enjoy making. I can’t wait to share some of these with you all soon!

Thank you so much for reading and for all your support — it really means the world.

See you soon,
