A Day in My Life: Working From Home (9:00 am – 5:30 pm)
7:00 am – Wake Up
I usually wake up around 7 am and strap on my Apple Watch to kickstart the day. I love using my checklist app to see all my tasks lined up—it really helps me feel organized. Breakfast comes next: today it’s potato waffles with scrambled eggs. I used to have scrambled eggs on toast, but I’m not a fan of gluten-free bread, so waffles are the perfect alternative! After breakfast, I take my vitamins. One of them is a powder, which I mix into green tea. I also take a few supplements to help with my PCOS, including Inositol and a multivitamin.
7:45 am – Bath, Teeth, Hair & Face Care
Once my vitamins are done, I head upstairs for a warm, relaxing bath. Baths are my little daily escape from the rush of life—I genuinely enjoy soaking for a while. Afterward, I wash my hair and, while letting it rest in a towel, I wash my face and brush my teeth. Makeup is optional for me; I usually skip it because I like to work out after work, so putting it on only to remove it later feels unnecessary. However, if I have a Zoom meeting, I’ll make the effort. I finish by drying my hair, and if I’m running late and it’s still damp, I usually braid it into two plaits.
9:00 am – Work Begins
Before diving into work, I often scroll through Facebook and Instagram and plan my meals for the day—this helps me avoid snacking or grabbing something unhealthy, especially since I have limited time for lunch. Work officially starts at 9 am. My morning routine usually involves catching up on emails from the night before, joining Zoom calls, and handling any urgent tasks.
Lunch usually comes around 1:30–2:00 pm. My go-to meals are Uncle Ben’s 2-minute rice or gluten-free pasta—they’re quick, easy, and filling. (I’ve tried making pasta the night before, but cold gluten-free pasta isn’t exactly appetizing!) The afternoon is filled with calls, updating holiday schedules, preparing quotes, and making bookings. I like to take short breaks every hour to step outside and get some fresh air—it always helps me feel refreshed.
5:45 pm – After Work Walk
I’m currently doing a virtual Mount Everest challenge, which requires walking about a mile each day. This is my excuse to get outside each evening for a stroll. On my days off, I can log more miles, but I prefer not to walk in the dark, so I usually stick to one mile in the evening. My sisters often join me once their schoolwork is done, and it’s nice to spend some time together. My Apple Watch tracks all my steps and time, which makes it easy to see my progress.
6:00 pm – Dinner
Dinner is family time. From pork chops to fish and chips on Fridays, every meal is different, but we always make it a point to sit down together and chat about our day. Even though I don’t work 9:00–5:30 every day, we try to keep mealtime consistent. After dinner, I often unwind with Netflix, work on a blog, or do some adult coloring—it’s so relaxing.
Thanks for reading another blog post! I’ll be sharing a “day in my life” for my non-working days soon, so stay tuned.
Take care.
